Verkada is building a one-of-a-kind B2B enterprise sales machine.
With a sales team of over 800 around the world, we are changing the
game in the $100B physical security market, and our incentive
compensation strategy is a foundational piece to our success. Our
philosophy is that simple, well-designed and executed compensation
plans are a critical component to aligning individual and business
outcomes. As we gear up to scale from 800 payees to thousands in
the next 5 years, our ability to incentivize the right behaviors
will be key to driving the strategic direction of the company.
In this role, you will play an integral role in defining Verkada's
incentive compensation strategy, owning a range of responsibilities
from strategic planning to operational execution. You will work
closely with the VP of Sales, CFO, and Director of Sales Strategy
and Operations, to whom this position reports, and various levels
of management at the company.
- Incentive compensation strategy & planning: Lead the annual and
quarterly commission and quota planning cycles for all departments
within the Sales organization. Own incentive compensation strategy
for new verticals and international expansion.
- Analytical insights: Develop and track critical compensation
metrics and design dashboards that communicate key findings in a
clear and concise way. Present actionable insights to Sales and
Finance leadership on a regular basis.
- Operational ownership & design: Own our commission software
system (CaptivateIQ), scope out infrastructure projects, and act as
product manager to our team's software engineers to support the
growth of the sales compensation and quota planning system.
- Policy design: Design and implement new incentive compensation
policies and enforce existing policies aimed at driving clarity and
efficiency in our go-to-market organization.
- Cross-functional partnership: partner with Finance, People
Partners, Recruiters, Hiring Managers, and Executives on incentive
compensation design & policies and performance evaluation.
- Deep experience in incentive compensation is NOT required. 4+
years of professional experience, ideally in investment banking,
management consulting, or private equity. Bachelors or masters from
a top school preferred.
- High-impact self-starter: you take initiative to move projects
forward and can operate well with little guidance.
- Raw smarts: we are looking for people with strong business
acumen who can approach complex problems and solve them from start
- Excellent analytics skills: you have a data-driven mentality;
you are excited to dig through data to drive evidence-based
discussions and decision-making. Excel / Google Sheets skills are a
must; SQL / Tableau / Looker experience is a plus.
- High attention to detail: at Verkada, we pride ourselves on
first principles thinking and sweating the details as the keys to
business results. You should excel in these areas and set a
standard for others.
- Communication and stakeholder management: you'll need to be
able to connect with sales reps and hardware engineers alike to
build scalable processes. Strong written and verbal communication
skills are a must.
- Flexibility and hustle: you are comfortable working in a
fast-paced startup environment that will require you to manage
competing priorities, mentor brilliant (but inexperienced) junior
talent, and continually adapt to change as the company scales.
