Job Description Job Description LHH is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join a growing organization located in Oak Park, IL. This role is ideal for a highly technical accounting professional with a proven background working across multiple financial systems and leading or supporting system implementations and process improvements. The organization is in a rebuild and modernization phase of its accounting department, offering a unique opportunity to create efficiencies and make a lasting impact. QuickBooks Online experience is a hard requirement. Candidates must be comfortable navigating, implementing, and optimizing accounting systems while managing core accounting functions. Position Details Location: Oak Park, IL Position Type: Direct Hire Salary: $58,000 - $60,000 Worksite Type: 100% Onsite Industry: Nonprofit (strongly preferred) Key Responsibilities Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts with a high level of accuracy Prepare and post journal entries and support month-end and year-end close Lead and support system implementations, upgrades, and integrations across accounting and finance platforms Identify opportunities to create efficiencies, improve workflows, and strengthen internal controls Prepare, review, and reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts and bank statements Contribute to monthly financial reporting and preparation of financial statements Manage the fixed asset system and related depreciation schedules Process and review vendor invoices, ensuring proper approvals and coding Perform ad hoc financial analysis to support leadership decision-making Organize and prepare documentation for federal and state tax compliance Collaborate cross-functionally to improve reporting accuracy and operational effectiveness Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required) Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience QuickBooks Online experience (hard requirement) Demonstrated experience working with multiple accounting and financial systems Proven involvement in system implementations, process improvements, or accounting technology upgrades Nonprofit accounting experience (strongly preferred) Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical aptitude Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment Solid understanding of GAAP and corporate accounting principles Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and 401K plan.
