Superintendent is responsible for the scheduling, coordination, and
safety of all site personnel and activities. They are to work
closely with the Construction Project Manager using their
construction expertise to establish and maintain schedules, select
Subcontractors, maintain the highest quality standards, and ensure
that the project is constructed in accordance with contract
documents and company policies, including but not limited to the
Design Group Safety Manual. Requirements: Set-Up Field Operations:
Identify job site facility requirements and work with the
Construction Project Manager to acquire assets as required.
Establish and maintain job site security. Contact local building
and permitting officials and set up parameters for job site
inspections. Receive all contract documents; plans, specifications,
project summary, schedule, etc. Review documents for practicality
and constructability and communicate deficiencies to the
Construction Project Manager for resolution. Coordinate with the
Construction Project Manager and client to identify working hours,
work areas for the project, safety protocols, Subcontractor
parking, staging areas, etc. Jobsite Scheduling and Coordination:
Work with the Construction Project Manager in the selection of
Subcontractors and suppliers. Hold a pre-start meeting with all
Subcontractors to determine the scope, safety, schedule, and
quality of work. Monitor purchasing schedules and delivery
problems. Communicate issues to the Construction Project Manager.
Develop and monitor short term schedules. Conduct and document
daily progress meetings with all Subcontractors. Include the
Construction Project Manager as needed. At a minimum, conduct and
document weekly safety meeting with all Subcontractors. Coordinate
activities of all Subcontractors on-site for efficient operation.
Monitor jobsite activities regularly for adherence to schedule and
quality requirements. At a minimum, conduct and document weekly
scheduling meetings with all Subcontractors. Safety: Set up
pre-start meeting with insurance carrier and schedule follow up
visits, if required.-Establish and enforce on-site safety program
in conformance with Design Group Safety Manual. Designate an
individual from Design Group team, or act as the onsite competent
Safety Representative for the project. Conduct jobsite safety
inspection no less than once a week, and complete the Jobsite
Safety Checklist and follow-up on corrective actions. Address
safety concerns in regular progress meetings with all
Subcontractors and Design Group team members. Complete and
distribute a report on all safety incidents, and investigate
thoroughly to prevent reoccurrence. Provide safety training for all
Subcontractors, including but not limited to Design Group Safety
Orientation, and if applicable, client safety training
requirements. Participate in preparation of the Design Group
Project Safety Plan, and hold all team members and all
Subcontractors accountable to the Safety Plan. Maintain record of
all required safety documentation including but not limited to,
Safety Data Sheets (SDS) onsite in hard copy form, emergency action
plan, Subcontact competent person contact list, etc. Quality
Management: Coordinate with Construction Project Manager in the
Subcontractor bidding and awarding stages to assure that
prospective Subcontractors are aware of quality requirements.
Conduct pre-start meeting will all Subcontractors and Construction
Project Manager to outline quality requirements. Ensure that work
installed is in conformance with contract documents and quality
standards. Issue timely Request For Information documentation in
Procore to the Engineering team and receive approval prior to that
work beginning. Complete quality check daily on all work in
progress and document all deficiencies. Coordinate activities of
personnel from assigned independent testing labs. Receive and
review daily inspection reports.- Conduct inspections of work as it
nears completion and issue punch lists to Subcontractors involved.
Determine that approved shop drawings and approved materials
submittals are in-hand before work starts. Verify all Vendor
submittals are available to all onsite project team members. Ensure
that as-built drawings are kept up to date. At the completion of
the project check all as-builts and transmit to Construction
Project Manager.-Complete and distribute Non-conformance Reports.
Administrative Tasks: Complete Daily Construction Reports in
Procore and transmit them to the Construction Project Manager and
other project team members as required.- Complete Field Purchase
Forms in Procore and transmit them to the Construction Project
Manager for all field purchases and time and material work.
Complete any Safety Incident/Accident/Near Miss Reports and
transmit them to the Head Office and Construction Project Manager.
Be certain that the signed subcontract, bond, and insurance
certificate are in hand before the Subcontractor starts work on the
project. Maintain record of costs on field-controlled purchases and
Change Orders and transmit to the Construction Project Manager
weekly at a minimum. Client Management: Project Superintendents are
the primary onsite interface with the client during the execution
of the project. Consistent, proactive management of the client and
their team is vital to a successful project. This could include,
but is not limited to: Managing the onsite day-to-day client
interaction Setting and managing client expectations Developing
lasting relationships with all client personnel that foster client
ties and future engagements Communicating effectively with clients
to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions
Building knowledge of the client's business, organization, and
objectives Working Environment: While performing the duties of this
job, the employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving
mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic
chemicals, outside weather conditions, uneven terrain and extreme
heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Irregular shifts, including graveyard, and long hours may be
required. All of these are within any legally acceptable limits as
outlined in OSHA 1926 as applicable. Personal Protective Equipment:
Always Required: Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Boots, Proper
clothing including high vis vests or shirts.Required As Needed:
Gloves, Harness, Respiratory protection, Hearing protection Travel:
Could be up to 100% dependent upon project requirements.
EXPERIENCE: Years of Experience Required: 3 years minimum
applicable experience required Type of Required Experience:
Construction and/or Engineering Education Preferred/Required:
Bachelors preferred or commensurate years of relevant work
experience Certifications Preferred/Required: OSHA 30 required
within the first 60 days of hiring Skills/Competencies Required: 12
Design Group Leadership Competencies (see attached), Be a role
model for our Rules of the Culture (see attached), Intermediate
computer skills including but not limited to Word, Excel, MS
Project, Outlook, Procore, time and expense entry, internet.
Languages Preferred/Required: Ability to effectively communicate
with clients and Project team members. *This is not intended to be

primary Project Superintendent, some projects will require multiple
leaders. There may be times when the Project Superintendent is
expected to fulfill the role of a Construction Project Engineer.
