Job Description:

Job Description WANTED: An experienced Flight Loads Lab Data Engineer who will apply their knowledge of engineering technology and systems engineering concepts to the specific technical tasks at Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC). A week in the life of a Flight Loads Lab Data Engineer: Design, develop, and implement data collection strategies for testing in the Flight Load Lab. Support all aspects of test execution with focus on data collection systems (but may include other duties such as safety monitor or other technician type duties). Experienced troubleshooter to identify and resolve technical issues in a timely manner --- ability to quickly develop plan for identifying and isolating hardware/system defects. Perform operational integration and interface verification checks, to ensure confidence of system compatibility. Support IT Security compliance and improvement effort; software updates, data archive, and recovery processes. Work closely with test engineers to ensure test systems are in place to meet the objectives of the various test campaigns. Perform work in accordance with NASA ISO AS9100 procedures and applicable regulatory requirements. Follow the safe practices and rules contained in the Safety and Health plan and other such rules and practices communicated on the job. Report status to Senior Technical Lead and/or Functional Area Lead in standardized format on or before due date. Job Requirements Required Education And Experience High School diploma plus 8 years technical experience performing engineering technician duties (design, analysis, or engineering) directly relevant to assigned tasks. Associates degree plus 6 years of experience. Bachelors degree plus 4 years of experience. Essential Requirements Have a senior level knowledge of digital data acquisition systems and display systems for supporting missions from setup to execution and data handling. Special consideration will be given to candidates who have experience with Interactive Analysis and Display Systems (IADS). Understand data collection and sensor calibrations of various test sensors measuring force, displacement, temperature, strain, and pressure. Demonstrated ability to assist with the development of data acquisition plans required to support testing, including defining hardware and software specification to support the interface of between the data acquisition system and system under test. Excellent computer skills are required. Must be able to work and lead efforts in a dynamic and multi-task work environment by prioritizing work and coordinating task/project schedules. Must be able to manage and decompose requirements in specific technical areas. Strong communications and ability to work in a team environment a must. Secret Clearance is required.
