Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin's vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth.As technical and functional manager of a small, hard-working, and accomplished team of guides, you will lead a team of engineers within the Engineering & Program Management (EPM) Systems & Structures Analysis team. As an EPM Systems & Structures Analysis Tools & Methods Engineering Manager, you will have technical accountability for the maintenance and development of company standard analysis tools and methods. The permanent location of this position is Kent, Washington.   • Provide technical and personal leadership to the Engineering Team
  • Support design reviews and readiness reviews in support of engineering releases, first article builds, and test/qualification readiness reviews
  • Apply robust, consistent, and reliable engineering fundamentals and to ensure requirements are met
  • Improving program analysis capabilities such as creating process automation tools for model creation, strength checks, and analysis report generation
  • Providing technical guidance on detailed design structural integrity
  • Ensure timely release of engineering products including FEM, analysis, and analysis reports
  • Run workflow and balance priorities across the team in order to support schedule objectives
  • Lead roles, responsibilities, and accountability and act as a mentor for team members
  • Grow the team by leading the recruiting, interview and hiring process
  • Review and understand company-wide processes and command media to ensure proper complianceQualifications:
    • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Structures, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited institution
    • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
    • Experience leading an engineering team in a production environment
    • Demonstrated experience on launch vehicles, aircraft, or automobiles in the following areas:
    • Free-body diagramming for internal and reaction load derivation
    • Analysis of metallic and/or composite structures (skin-stringer, fittings, sandwich panels, etc.)
    • Analysis of stability critical structures
    • Familiarity with classical aerospace sizing methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, etc.)
    • Showed skill with one or more of the following analysis codes: Nastran, Optistruct , Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna
    • Experience developing analysis tool, processes, scripts for analysis or reporting
    • In-depth understanding of structures engineering principles
    • Demonstrated experience with composite aerospace structures
    • Strong personnel, project management and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to operate, make decisions, lead, and make forward progress in ambiguous environments
    • Understanding of product life cycle management and associated gate reviews
    • Proficiency in business and engineering software (i.e. MS Office, Windchill, PLM, etc)
    • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
    • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylumDesired:
      • Master of Science in Mechanical, Structures, Industrial or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited institution
      • Advanced experience in complex hardware Structures (i.e. castings, forgings, additively manufactured components, welding, machining, cleaning, non-destructive testing methods, complex assembly and acceptance testing)
      • Previous engineering leadership in an aerospace environment with space hardware, aircraft or similar, critically important high value components
      • Demonstrated process automation experience using scripting languages is highly desired (VBA, Matlab, Python, FORTRAN, etc.)
      • Experience with Hypersizer optimization software
