Job Description:
We are looking for a dynamic Assistant Hospital Director with
deep experience in clinical operations, financial decision making,
and staff & team development. The ideal compensation range is $96 -
115k+. The final salary will be based off the candidate's
experience level and ability to make an impact coming into the
organization. The package also comes with an annual profit-sharing
bonus plan and a comprehensive benefits package. Metropolitan
Animal Specialty Hospital (MASH) is a 24-hour emergency and
specialty animal hospital located in the heart of Hollywood,
California. MASH is proud to offer superior veterinary care to the
Los Angeles community. Departments include Surgery, Internal
Medicine, Emergency and Critical Care, Dermatology, Ophthalmology,
Cardiology, Neurology, and Nutrition, along with an experienced and
compassionate Customer Service Team. The current hospital has two
campuses, the main hospital and outpatient facility. Additionally,
the hospital is building a brand-new state of the art 52,000 square

: The Assistant Hospital Director (AHD) is a leader and an integral
member of the hospital management team. The AHD works closely with
both the Managing DVM (MDVM) and Hospital Director (HD) to ensure
that all hospital operations are fulfilled, and that the hospital
operates at maximum efficiency at all times. Duties &
Responsibilities: Hospital Operations Assists and participates in
the daily oversight of hospital functions. Partners with Support
Staff Schedulers to strategically plan and schedule support staff.
Oversees staff labor as compared to budget. Partners with all
hospital leaders to problem-solve and ensure that client's needs
are exceeded, and that optimal patient care is delivered on a
consistent basis. Partners with the Managing DVM and HA to
continuously drive the hospital program forward to maximize growth
and revenue potential. Serves as the hospital's OSHA and Safety
Officer/Coordinator. Develops and maintains a current hospital
safety program and involves appropriate team members as necessary.
Supports all hospital areas as a resource of information and
assistance. Oversees or carryout client resolutions. Remains
current on all facets and features of EzyVet (hospital operating
system). Serves as the primary contact to Ethos IT. Assists as
necessary or requested with trouble shooting. Plans updates which
may impact hospital operations and functions and Partners with
in-house IT to ensure staff are communicated with regarding planned
updates, shutdowns, equipment replacement/upgrades, etc. People
Management Works closely with the MDVM and HD to oversee staffing
needs including hiring, training, disciplining, and terminating as
required. Recruits new employees and participates in the selection
process. Oversees the completion of employee orientation, training
and participates in performance appraisals. Coaches and mentor
employees and identify continuous learning and skill building
needs. Assists with the implementation of performance-based
incentive and rewards and recognition programs. Assists with
mediation of conflict and maintains employee morale. Assists with
the management of client service staff. Partners with Human
Resources to maintain and confirm current licensures for all
necessary staff. Financial Duties Partners with the HD to oversee
all aspects of hospital payroll processes. Participates in
financial oversight of revenue and expenses for hospital. Partners
with HD in budget planning and strategic planning both short-term
and long-term. Approves expenses as necessary to Ethos for
processing. Assists with management of Accounts Receivable as
necessary. Communicates with vendors as necessary regarding
Accounts Payable and maintains relationships related to hospital
equipment and computer hardware. Ensures all accounts are paid and
up to date. Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge Supervisory knowledge and know-how- preferred 3 years'
experience Understanding of accounts-payable and receivables Solid
customer service skills and marketing techniques Solid knowledge of
human resource policies and protocol support Staff management
including hiring, benefits, payroll, disciplinary process and
development, termination Skills Customer service best practices
General management skills including reporting and data analysis
Problem solving and conflict management skills Solid oral and
written communication skills Basic computer skills (Avimark,
Microsoft Office, Email, and practice management software knowledge
preferred) Abilities The ability to delegate responsibility and
achieve results with hospital team members Must be able to handle
multiple tasks and remain flexible with assigned duties Capable of
championing change and driving innovative programs in the hospital,
especially those ideas which are initiated by Ethos, the HD, or
MDVM Capable of quality decision making Ability to coach, correct,
develop and motivate employees Demonstrates professional and
courteous presentation with staff and clients Teamwork: defined as
