PPG Aerospace is hiring a Sealants Lab Team Leader ! As the Sealants Lab Team Leader, you will lead and supervise the Sealants and Analytical laboratory within the Quality Assurance department, and ensure all testing is performed in a timely manner to meet internal and external customer requirements and on-time delivery goals. Key Responsibilities: Ensure that budget targets are met or exceeded by effective management of resources. Make decisions on batch adjustments for Application and physical properties and advise and train lab technicians on making such adjustments. Continually improve the processes in the lab to reduce cycle time. Develop personnel to improve their efficiency. Develop and maintain programs to track key performance indicators of lab performance. Ensure priorities are set-up and communicated between the shifts. Champion 6S standards with the team to continually eliminate waste. Interact with manufacturing and distribution daily to ensure on-time delivery. Assist customer service, technical service, research, sales, marketing, and ASC managers with quality-related issues, as well as customer complaint verification, root cause identification, and corrective action implementation. Connect with customers on the status of pre-shipment approvals, test methods discrepancies, test results discrepancies, and new test development. Facilitate the team members of the lab to align their activities and goals with the vision, goals, values, and business strategy of PPG Aerospace business. Align with Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements and procedures at all times. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. At least three years of directly applicable experience. Must have experience in adjusting products for Application and physical properties. Must have strong mathematical, problem solving, decision making, organizational, and time leadership skills. Able to effectively read, write, and communicate in English. Ability to handle a fast-paced and demanding environment dealing with multiple internal and external customers. Understanding of Sealants manufacturing processes is desirable. Must be able to lead technicians in a team environment ensuring that the work is completed safely and in a timely manner. Must have a solid understanding of Microsoft Office products and basic personal digital literacy. Previous supervisory experience in a lab or plant environment preferred. Knowledge of ISO 9000 or AS- 9100 quality system requirements is also desirable. Must be able to wear required PPE with or without reasonable accommodation.
