We are seeking individuals to join our team who have high
standards and a desire to positively impact the lives of
Adoption Promotion and Support Services (APSS) Therapists provide
mental health services including individual, group and family
therapy for children, youth, and families in our APSS program.
Services are offered at our clinic, school and the client's home.
The APSS Therapist will be working within the context of a team to
provide adoption focused mental health services to clients referred
through Penny Lane's Foster Family Agency Contract with APSS. The
therapist works collaboratively with the team to assess, provide
and/or link the clients and families to needed community services
and coordinates all the services that the client receives. The
Therapist will provide adoption-focused and/or adoption informed
individual therapy to all referred children, non- minor dependents,
adoptive parents, prospective adoptive parents and caregivers,
including unmatched prospective caregivers. Therapist will assist
child(ren) or non-minor dependents hesitant about adoption in
exploring and resolving therapeutic issues including but not
limited to past losses, rejections, and disappointments so that
these issues do not impact their potential for a permanent adoptive
placement. Therapist will assess the family needs and provide
family therapy to address the needs of the family related to
permanency. The Therapist documents all service according to DMH
and Penny Lane guidelines.
In addition to working with APSS children, youth, and families, the
APSS therapist will also provide services for clients in our
outpatient ISFC (Intensive Services Foster Care) program as needed.
The APSS therapist is to provide support, professional services,
treatment, whether services are provided to APSS-specific children,
youth, and families. The APSS Therapist possesses excellent verbal
and written communication skills when working with clients, outside
agencies, members of the community, and co-workers.
The APSS Therapist will employ a professional and calm demeanor and
appropriate ethical and professional boundaries. Excellent clinical
skills are used to assess the appropriate level of care for clients
and stabilize clients in crisis. Teaming, collaborating and
coordination of care with all Penny Lane staff, DCFS, DMH, and
other outside agencies is crucial. This position requires
flexibility, excellent time management skills and the ability to
manage responsibilities efficiently with little

Salary Range: $60,100 up to $72,208 per
Additional $5,000 per year bilingual Spanish differential.
Sign On Bonus: $5,000 sign on bonus - paid in two installments:
$2,500 upon hire and $2,500 upon successfully completing the six
month introductory period.
- Active MFT Intern or ASW Intern registered with the BBS or
Active Licensed LMFT, LCSW or Psychologist.
- Post Master's clinical work treating children and/or
- Knowledge of DMH paperwork.
- Bilingual Spanish Required.
- Valid California Driver's License, must have current
automobile insurance and must maintain a clean driving
