Job Description:

Schedule: Saturday - Sunday (7:00am - 3:30pm)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee clients' cubicle maintenance and enforce cubicle guidelines in a trauma-informed manner
  • Manage the clean linen exchanges once a week
  • Provide orientation to the facilities to new clients
  • Work in collaboration with other shelter staff to maintain smooth operation of the shelter, which may include assisting with food service or other duties as assigned
  • Order office and program supplies when needed
  • Facilitate client groups to assist with skill development
  • Develop effective, trusting relationships with clients using a client-centered approach that includes motivational interviewing and harm reduction and Trauma-Informed care
  • Proactively create a supportive environment to ensure clients' progress towards permanent supportive housing and psycho-social rehabilitation
  • Intervene during crises to actively de-escalate situations, with clients and staff 's safety in mind
  • Ensure that the physical site is well-maintained and safe
  • Send repair requests to the Operations Department, when needed
  • Communicate effectively, and promptly, with management, peers, and clients
  • Maintain client confidentiality at all times, while following agency, state, and HIPAA laws

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or GED strongly preferred
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in related work
  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues faced by a culturally diverse population, managing homelessness, mental illness, and substance abuse.
  • Committed to improving the community through empowerment and dignity
  • Collaboration and team-work is required
  • Knowledge of Word Document and use of Emails.
  • Able to obtain and maintain CPR and first aid certification

Environment and Responsibilities

Work Environment

  • Combination of field and office environment
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend; occasionally lift or carry up to 35 lbs.
  • On occasion walk or drive to different local sites
  • Will necessitate working in busy and loud environments
  • Will be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor
  • May need to bend, stoop, twist and sit throughout the day
