What we do:
The Rotary Wing Test Pilot is responsible for the test planning and execution for research and development (R&D) projects on helicopters and other appropriate test platforms. These projects will include development of airborne sensors and technologies for future eVTOL aircraft. As pilot-in-command (PIC) of Supernal's state-of-the-art Bell 407GXi helicopter, the position is responsible for safe and professional conduct of flight operations and flight test operations. The pilot closely collaborates with flight test colleagues, aircraft maintenance team, and the engineering design team to develop and execute R&D project evaluation plans.
This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week. -
What you can do:


  • Operate Bell 407 GXi helicopter as PIC for R&D testing of next generation sensors and avionics
  • Interface with flight test colleagues and design engineers for R&D project planning and execution as well resource scheduling to support project work, required maintenance, and pilot proficiency operations
  • Identify, communicate, manage, and mitigate hazards associated with aircraft operation
  • Document and report test results and make recommendations for improving design performance and effectiveness of follow-on evaluations
  • May require up to 50% of domestic and international travel
  • Other duties as assigned

    What you can contribute:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in flight testing (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
    • 2,000 hours of rotary wing flying experience with turbine engines
    • 200 hours of instrument flying experience in helicopters
    • 500 hours of night flying experience in helicopters
    • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Helicopter Instrument rating
    • Recently demonstrated skill and proficiency in operating turbine engine helicopters
    • Willingness to obtain an FAA Second Class Medical Certificate
    • Strong flight leadership, crew resource management (CRM), crew coordination, and PIC decision making skills
    • Able to demonstrate proficiency with Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and night flying
    • Recently demonstrated skill and proficiency conducting flight test planning and flight test execution including technical collaboration with engineers
    • Innovative and creative thinker with strong risk assessment/risk management skills
    • Proactive communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

      You may also be able to contribute:

      • Bell 407GXi experience preferred
      • Formal flight test training from an SETP recognized Test Pilot School preferred
      • Experience writing technical flight test plans and technical test reports preferred
      • Multi-engine Helicopter and Helicopter Flight Instructor ratings preferred
      • 200 hours of formation flying experience and formal formation training preferred
      • Fixed Wing Commercial Pilot certificate preferred
      • Experience with fixed wing and VTOL experimental flight test preferred
