CITY OF CALIFORNIA CITY External Posting November 15, 2022 POSITION: Police Clerk/Dispatcher LOCATION: Police Department HOURS: 12 Hour Schedule SALARY: $20.72-$26.44 per hour May work weekends and holidays asassigned OBJECTIVE: To receive and transmit routine and emergency telephone and radio voice messages, dispatch assignments according to established police procedures, operate various telecommunications center equipment and provide clerical and record keeping services to the Police Department. DUTIES: The duties include but are not limited to:1.Receive and evaluate 9-1-1 police, fire, and business calls with the ability to transfer to the appropriate party.2.Dispatch police units to emergency and non-emergency locations.3.Handle inquiries and complaints from the public regarding services.4.Operate multi-channel radio systems, log, and fill out call form, monitor other radio channels while maintaining radio traffic on main channels.5.Check files for criminal records of subjects for authorized personnel.6.Prepare a daily report of crime information collected. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 1.Valid Class C California Driver's license2.High school graduate or GED.3.Type at a corrected rate of 35 words per minute.4.Possession of a POST Basic Dispatcher Certificate and Department of Justice CLETS/CJlSOperator Certificate within one year of hire as a Police Dispatcher.5.Must be able to pass a background investigation, physical examination, polygraph, and drug test.6.Ability to work various shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays.7.Memorize codes, names, locations, and other detailed information.8.Ability to speak clearly and correctly. Ability to stand, sit, walk, kneel, crouch and stoop. TESTING/INTERVIEW: Test and interview will be required. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: Open until filled.
